Why help us?
We want to partner with you and your Church as we go into your local schools to share the Gospel. So if you enjoy working with children and would like the opportunity to help us share the love of Jesus with children in schools, we would love to hear from you!
We may be in your local area once or twice a term, so if you have a couple hours to spend now and again, that would help us greatly.
“Going out as a volunteer for me was a healing experience during a dark time for me. Instead of being a stepping stone to a new job, it has become a big part of my life.”
Andrea, Huddersfield
“The reason I volunteer for Hand to Mouth is to show the love of God to children who may not know how much God loves them.”
Nina
“I love the acceptance of God from such diverse communities and age differences”

Ways volunteers can help ...

The Amazing Journey
Volunteers help us deliver our Amazing Journeys. Each Journey is set up in a classroom and comprises between 6 and 8 stations. The children move around the stations, doing some practical activity at each one.
In years 2-4 (ages 6-9), the children work in pairs and are taken around the Journey by a volunteer who reads the information to them and helps them with each task.
In years 5-6 (ages 9-11) most children do the journey alone, however a volunteer will be on hand to help out where necessary.
We usually work with one class per session (am/pm).If you would like to volunteer with us, there are some helpful documents below. Please download and complete an application form and return to office@handtomouth.org.uk and if you do not have a current DBS certificate registered with the update service, also complete and return the DBS self declaration form. We will then contact you to complete a DBS application form online. We are able to help you with this (though it is not complicated)

Prep Days
If cutting/laminating/sorting is your thing then why not come to one of our prep days at our Huddersfield office? We run one day per half term to prepare all the materials we’ll be using in school.
We pride ourselves on providing quality materials and are always really grateful for anyone who can come for an hour or more to give us a helping hand. Just text, email or call to let us know you’re interested and we will give you the date of our next prep day. -
Prayer
We would love you to pray for us regularly. We will send you a prayer letter and update each term so that you can pray for us and the schools we are working in. Just let us have your email address. This comes via Mailchimp.

Financial Giving
If you are able to support us financially we thank you for your donation. This might be a one off gift or a regular donation, or you might like to sponsor some equipment or a school. You can donate on our website via PayPal, or by calling us for our bank details. Churches are encouraged to consider us in their tithe or mission donations.

DBS and Update Service
All volunteers to work in schools with Hand to Mouth are required to have a current, valid DBS with full disclosure for working with young people. We don’t however require our own, so if you have one with another job/organisation which you volunteer with then you can use it with us!
If you don’t have a DBS but would like to volunteer with us, or have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
